In a glittering and glamorous fashion here at the Uppal's Orchid-An Ecotel Hotel, Sanjana Jon presented her New York Couture to the Indian audiences.
Walking the ramp attired in her western and traditional Indian ensemble' were the reigning Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova and Miss Afghanistan 2005 Veda Samadzai.
The show was a part of the Miss Universe AIDS Awareness India Tour during which Sanjana Jon, Miss Universe and seven other international models would be visiting several other Indian cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Kochi, Hyderabad and Chennai to promote awareness towards AIDS as threat and a disease.
New York-based Fashion Designer Sanjana Jon made her international debut at the Cannes film festival in 2004.
She began designing while doing her credits at parsons and cut her teeth co-designing with brother Anand Jon, the brand ambassador of haute couture, working on the man's line that caught the fancy of rock stars like Prince and Backstreet Boys.
Sanjana's clientele list includes Hollywood beauty, actress Paris Hilton and her sister Nicky, and AlanisMorisseette models Ivanka Trump, Armanda Hearst, Devon Aoki, former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, Princess Sara al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and Princess Olivia de Barbon of Spain.
And yet, she is rooted to reality, declaring khadi, which she has been trying to incorporate into her collections, as the most 'untapped' fabric.
Sanjana believes India has the best fabrics, but misses out on cuts and line. She tries to bridge that gap with some Indian embroidery to pep up western garments.
