And he added: In this competition, I have seen the great talent that exists among the young designers. Some are more creative, while others work on ideas that have already been developed, yet all of them are very good and have great quality.

All those present enjoyed an exclusive performance by the flamenco guitarist Tomatito, who brought the evening to a close playing a selection of his repertoire.

It was a major event at which the biggest prize in international fashion was awarded, 300,000 euros. Lena Lumelsky was chosen by the jury from among the 10 finalists who went through to the final stage of the competition. The winner declared: I am very grateful to MANGO for offering me this fantastic opportunity to be able to display my Collection before all the press and the guests; all the finalists are amazed at the warm reception we have been given. In relation to her projects, Lumelsky explained: I am going to continue to develop a personalised and handmade collection in Antwerp, but thanks to this award I can increase the number of retail outlets on an international level and above all, the most important thing, I will be able to realise my dream: to present a collection in Paris.

A noteworthy aspect was the high quality of the other finalists' proposals: the Spanish duo Zazo & Brull, formed by Xavier Zazo and Clara Brull; the designer of British-Canadian origin, Jean Pierre Braganza, who is based in London; the Japanese designer Motonari Ono; the German designer Michael Sontag; the Italian duo Leitmotiv, formed by Fabio Sasso and Juan David Caro; another Italian designer, Rocco Iannone; the Austrian designer Isabelle Steger; the Belgian Harvey Bouterse and the duo formed by Matthew Cunnington and John Sanderson, based in England. Their collections have been exhibited on Barcelona's Paseo de Gracia this week.

The Jury was made up of various celebrities from the fashion world, including Jean Paul Gaultier, as the Chairman of the Jury, the fashion consultant Elio Fiorucci, the young designer Lee Jean Youn, the fashion expert Naty Abascal, the photographer Mario Sorrenti, Jean Pierre Bua and Luis Balagué, owners of the multi-brand store Jean Pierre Bua, Pascale Camart, purchasing manager of Galerias Lafayette, Marie-Christiane Marek, fashion editor, Nieves Álvarez, fashion icon, Damián Sánchez, Partner and Creative Director of MANGO, and the Chairman of the company, Isak Andic.
