Now, on the occasion of Pitti Uomo 80, Fondazione Pitti Discovery is launching “VESTIRSI DA UOMO” [Dress like a Man] a project devoted to the new contemporary classic look, with a focus on new generation masculine elegance. It is a strong trend in today's men's fashions: Pitti Uomo captures it and Pitti Discovery is dedicating an event-performance with an original interpretation to this phenomenon.
The stars will be a group of very different Italian and international firms, expressing this new fashion concept through a product that can consistently combine artisan tailoring, styling, innovative materials and details with concreteness.
“The idea is to 'show and tell' the clothes through a theatrical performance”, says Lapo Cianchi the Pitti Immagine director of Communications and Special Events “that will be light, ironic and chic. We have selected Olivier Saillard as the director, a well-known historian, scholar, international fashion critic, playwright/actor and director of the Paris-based Musée Galliera. This is going to be an original interpretation and a true show: a presentation of an attitude and a style, of a way of being and dressing in which the product is the origin and inspiration for the staging concept”.
Pitti Discovery studies and records changes in tastes and fashions; it promotes emerging talents and phenomena as well as the most original designers on the contemporary scene; it encourages dialogue among fashion, other esthetic languages and entertainment.
The show will open on the evening of Tuesday, June 14 with the special partecipation of mannequins as Violeta Sanchez, Amalia Vaireli, Axelle Doue', Claudia Huidobro, and there will be two repeat performances on Wednesday, June 15 to give buyers, members of the press and guests the opportunity to see the show
The companies participating in this first edition of VESTIRSI DA UOMO will be: Boglioli, Brunello Cucinelli, Camoshita United Arrows, Church's, Gianvito Rossi, Haver Sack, Montedoro, Nigel Cabourn, Piombo, Roda e Sartorio.
