Gyaru fashions has opened a new outlet in Shibuya to specially serve men who are influenced by Gyaru trends and glamorous women visiting Tokyo regularly. This outlet is being thronged by fashion conscious boys.
Developer of Shibuya's 109 building which is considered a major spot for Gyaru sellers, Tokyo Malls Development Corporation (TMD) began selling men's Gyaru items in nearby 109-(2) building in March and increased sales area on September 15.
Tenant Planning Supervisor of TMD, Reina Nakao informed that the company noticed two years back that huge numbers of guys were shopping at ladies fashion stores in 109, motivating it to open men's fashion floor at 109-(2).
Gyaru set up 13 outlets on the fifth floor of 109-(2) in March. Then the floor has achieved monthly sales of 100 million yen, exceeding targets by 20 million yen.
Nakao added that Gyaru's policy of focusing on men preferring slim fashions has worked out.
With success of men's stores, TMD opened another section on sixth floor of 109-(2) building on September 15 adding ten retailers.
General Manager of 109-(2) tenant Scottside, Masakatsu Ishii said that men coming to the store were ardent shoppers and the company wanted them to visit frequently.
