Handbags retailer buys Purse Store's web-based segment

LunaBoston.com, an online retailer of upscale handbags and accessories, has acquired the online assets of The Purse Store, a clothing and accessories retailer based in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Purse Store recently announced plans to liquidate its e-commerce site as well as its brick-and-mortar store locations.

Acquisition of The Purse Store's web-based segment included purchase of the company's. Beginning August 15, all traffic to this website will be automatically redirected.

"The Purse Store has developed a tremendous following in the Washington D.C. area and online, and this acquisition represents an important step in the growth and development of our website on a national level," said Sarah Johnson, CEO of LunaBoston.com. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
