Acrylic staple fibre prices decline over 17% in China

Acrylic staple fibre (1.5D*38mm) has witnessed a steep decrease of over 17 per cent in price in China since January 2023. Chinese domestic prices decreased by 17.76 per cent to $1.99 per kg in the last 14 months. FOB prices of acrylic staple fibre also reduced by 14.34 per cent to $2.15 per kg at Chinese ports.

Chinese domestic prices of acrylic staple fibre were hovering at $2.42 per kg in the first quarter of last year. They declined by 3.31 per cent to $2.34 per kg in April-June 2023. The prices crashed by 20.51 per cent to $1.86 per kg in July-September 2023. However, the prices recovered by 5.91 per cent to $1.97 per kg in the following quarter and further by 1.02 per cent to reach $1.99 per kg as of now, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.

The FOB price of the fibre was noted at $2.51 per kg at Chinese ports in January-March 2023. The prices had seen a steep fall of 6.37 per cent to $2.35 per kg in the second quarter and 15.32 per cent to $1.99 per kg in the third quarter of last year, as per TexPro.

It followed a positive trend in the Chinese domestic market during the following quarters. Acrylic fibre improved by 6.53 per cent to $2.12 per kg in October-December 2023. It further gained 1.42 per cent to $2.15 per kg in the current year till now.
