Ascend Performance Materials, recently showcased its groundbreaking product No-Shock, an anti-static fibre that is both dyeable and chemical free, and enables manufacturers to better meet the demands of consumers who want garments that are static-free, dust-repellent and more comfortable at the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, England.

Anti-static fibres usage so far has been limited due to its black colour which does not integrate themselves well with fashion-coloured fabrics. Ascend offers off-white antistatic fibres that are easily dyeable to match a variety of fabric colours, which can be used in variety of garments, including performance wear, children’s wear, and sueded and brushed materials such as fleece and athleisure wear.

“Ascend has finally provided apparel designers the customized anti-static fiber they have needed. This new product opens doors to many consumer apparel segment markets,” said Harrie Schoots, Ascend global business manager.

No-Shock is also environmentally friendly and safe. No-Shock fibres requires no finish, no curing and no effluent. It is added to fabric before wet processing and remains in the fabric for its lifetime. In addition, No-Shock is REACH and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Classification 1 compliant, a requirement for fibers used in children’s wear.

“No-Shock offers customers a reliable, cost-effective way to lower manufacturing costs and ensure a reliable static-free application because only small amounts are required. This makes it an ideal material for hair- and dust-repellent and free-flowing apparel applications,” Schoots noted. (NA)
