The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) has welcomed the Ministry of Textiles’ decision to rescind the Quality Control Order on viscose staple fibre (VSF), calling it a major relief for the man-made fibre value chain.
CITI chairman Ashwin Chandran said the withdrawal eases long-standing price and availability challenges for VSF and speciality fibres, which are essential for a wide range of value-added garments and made-ups.
“This, along with the earlier rescinding of the QCO on polyester yarn and fibres, will address the price and availability concerns raised by the users of these raw materials in the MMF segment. This measure will contribute significantly to raising the competitiveness of the Indian textile and apparel sector," Chandran said.
