Japanese production of man-made fibres in the month of May rose marginally by 1.9 percent year-on-year, announced the Japan Chemical Fibers Association.
Chemical fibre output rose to 88,335 tons in May 2011. Of this, production of synthetic fibres increased by three percent to 73,798 tons.
Only acrylic staple fibre (ACF) posted a positive growth of 5.1 percent in rising to 14,150 tons.
Output of polyester filament declined to 14,933 tons, down 6 percent, polyester staple fiber (PSF) output dipped to 13,705 tons, down by just 0.2 percent and nylon filament fell 3.7 percent to 7,641 tons.
