Demand for spandex improves in Chinese market

The demand for spandex has increased in China’s domestic market, which has led to a slight increase in its prices.

Currently, negotiations for spandex 30D are in the range of 47,000-52,000 Yuan/ton, while prices of 40D and 70D are in the range of 43,000-47,000 Yuan/ton.

However, supply is not enough to meet the present demand, but analysts expect the domestic spandex market outlook to remain flat owing to economic downturn.

This is making both traders and manufacturers to operate under a wait-and-watch mode as they are expecting the market to return to temporarily flat conditions after the slight increase.

Several traders and weaving units have moderately stocked spandex before the market rose. So, downstream buyers have slowed down their purchase, but the end-demand has marginally improved.

Hence, actual spandex consumption is likely to enter a phase of steady state after the slight increase.
