PSF prices show downtrend in Northeast Asia

The prices of polyester staple fibre (PSF) showed downtrend in the Northeast Asian region last fortnight ending November 15, 2013, due to weak market sentiments.
 
The average price of PSF in the fortnight was US$ 1.38/kg in Northeast Asia, registering a fall of 4.17 percent over the average price of US$ 1.44/kg in the comparable fortnight last year. However, in the fortnight ending October 31, average PSF price was US$ 1.42/kg.
 
In the Chinese domestic market, mainstream offers for 1.4 Den PSF hovered around RMB 9,910/ton in the first half of the last fortnight, while they were around RMB 9,895/ton in the in the second half of the fortnight ending November 15. 
 
Prices of 1.5 Den PSF of Taiwan origin were offered at US$ 1.58-1.63/kg, while those of Europe origin were offered at US$ 2.40-2.52/kg and that of US origin at US$ 2.58-2.60/Kg.
 
Meanwhile, prices of 1.5 Den PSF of China origin for domestic and export markets were offered at US$ 1.57-1.60/kg and US$ 1.36-1.40/kg, respectively.
