Fibre imports in March 2006 reached $18.5 million (13.9 thousand tons), recorded a month-on-month increase of 84.5 percent and 70.3 percent in terms of volume and value respectively.
Out of 10 major international suppliers of Vietnam, Taiwan is ranked at highest place, followed by Indonesia and Thailand.
In the first quarter 2006, Taiwanese suppliers sold Vietnam 33.2 thousand tons for $44.8 million, posting 35.3 percent increase in volume and 25.6 percent in value compared to same period 2005.
In 2005, Vietnam imported 203 thousand tons fibre, worth $339.6 million, of which a volume of 100.1 thousand tons is from Taiwan at $148 million, accounting for 49.3 percent rise in entire fibre imports turnover of Vietnam.
