Fibre imports turnover reach $72 mn

In the first half of 2006, fiber imports turnover of Vietnam reached 58,000 tones, worth US $72 million, posted growth of 15 percent and 8 percent in terms of volume and value, respectively.

Among the goods categories, polyester fiber made highest growth rate in both volume and value.

In a week from 6 to 17 July, importing price of 100 percent polyester–fiber (size 4d*51mm) form Korea was $1.64 per kg against a 20 percent decline in price of previous week.

In regard to other apparel materials, price of 100 percent polyester–fabric was around $0.3-6.0 per meter.

Chinese exporters are offering price of $0.89 per meter, at 32 percent and 66 percent lower than one from Taiwan and Japan, respectively.
