General Customs Statistics reveal that during the first seven months this year the country spent US $297 million importing fibre for domestic textile and garment industry, registering year–on–year rise of 53.7 and 44.8 percent in terms of volume and value.
For many years, Taiwan has always remained the biggest supplier of the goods to Vietnam.
Total imports revenue to this market in July 2006 reached $21.7 million for 14.7 thousand tons, up 141.9 percent of value from one year ago.
Thailand has emerged as the top supplier of the goods with consecutive years of strong growth.
The figures from this market in July 2006 show a volume of 3.9 thousand tons at $5.2 million-value, up 200.5 percent and 147.3 percent from corresponding period last year respectively.
