Abaca industry seeks support of Govt & private sectors

Government and private sector should come together for the growth of abaca industry to increase rural employment and family income, Camarines Sur representative Luis Villafuerte said.
According to him, industry which is potential driver of economic growth in rural area has been nearly underrated.
He urged the Department of Agriculture's Fiber Industry Development Authority (Fida) to prepare an aggressive plan for development of abaca industry.
Fibers produced from abaca are used in manufacturing of clothing material and handicraft like bags and baskets etc.
