Fiber filament Nantong imports hit new record

In the first quarter of this year, fiber filament imports by Nantong, Jiangsu Province hit new record, amounting to 1580.36 tons and valued at US $5.8063 million, representing year-on-year rise of 66.07 and 97.08 percent, respectively.

Main imports are polyester, nylon and aramid fiber from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and China's Taiwan, for production of high value-added garment and working garment fabrics, indoor decorative cloth and automobile materials. The finished products are mainly for sales abroad.

The import volume and value of polyester filament accounted for 93.22 percent and 87.67 percent, respectively. The average price rose to current $3.40 per kilogram from $2.92 at the beginning of last year.
