Spandex fiber prices decline

Spandex prices in the country declined to an extent in early July. The price of spandex 20D bright decreased from 130,000 yuan per ton in late June to 128,000 yuan per ton in early July.

The price of spandex 40D bright dropped from 83,000 yuan per ton to 81,000 yuan per ton. Value of spandex 70D bright also reduced from 81,000 yuan per ton to 80,000 yuan per ton. However, over the same period, the price of spandex 30D bright edged up from 100,000 yuan per ton to 101,000 yuan per ton.

The moving trend of spandex covered yarn was stable. Of this, spandex covered yarn 2070 (semi-dull in Yiwu) remained at 44,000 yuan per ton; spandex covered yarn 4075 (semi-dull in Yiwu) stayed at 26,000 yuan per ton.

Price movement of raw materials from upstream was sound. In the international market, price of MDI (diphenyl methane diisocyanate) remained at US $2650 per ton from late June to early July. MDI price in domestic market stayed at 25,500 yuan per ton.

South Korea K-PTG was offering PTMEG (polytetramethylene glycol ether) at a price tag of $3350 per ton, up from $3,300. PTMEG spot price by Shanxi Sanwei was around 31,000 yuan per ton.

The steady trend of spandex raw materials supported spandex fiber. The recently appeared 'color lattice elastic cloth' uses 51 percent polyester filament 75D, 46 percent rayon yarn 40s and 3 percent spandex covered yarn 40D.

It has fashionable appearance, distinguished style, a soft feel, better stretch, comfortable texture and better shaping. Overall, its sales outlook is promising.

Though the operation state of circular machine enterprises from downstream declined rapidly in recent time, the overall operation rate remained at 5 -6 percent. Some enterprises only keep an operation rate of 2 percent for spandex machines.
