Polyester fibre import prices see a slight drop

In the first month of 2008, Vietnamese textile and garment industry witnessed slight decline in import prices of polyester fibre from all markets. Textile companies are taking a sigh of relief with this drop.

In the period from January 3 to 12, the import price of polyester fibre oscillated between the range of US $0.85-$2.65 per kg.

From Thailand, the price was quoted at $1.31 per kg, down 3.8 percent, against previous week and down 5.8 percent in comparison with same period of September 2007.

On the same line, price at Malaysian market was $1.56 per kg, showing a minor drop of 0.5 percent compared to previous week.

It is noteworthy that the price at Taiwan was the cheapest one, quoted at $0.85 per kg, witnessing a fall of 40 percent against previous week and 21 percent compared to corresponding period of September 2007.
