Spandex fiber production soars in May

Spandex fiber production of China in May this year amounted to 16,579 tons marking an increase of 1,733 tons or 11.68 percent compared to April.

In the period between January and May 2008, the total production of spandex fiber touched 76,270 tons, representing a growth of 13.70 percent over corresponding period last year.

Individually in terms of region, Zhejiang Province recorded an output of 8,730 tons, a growth of 6.04 percent over the previous month, ranking first in the list. Shandong Province stood second with a production of 2,933 tons, an increase of 61.95 percent than April.

However, yields of Jiangsu, Shandong Provinces fell by 1.28 percent and 4.03 percent compared to the month before.

While production of both Shanghai city and Jilin Province were basically the same as the previous month, Xinjiang produced 207 tons of spandex in May.

From January to May, the proportions of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Guangdong, Jilin Provinces, and Shanghai Municipality, and Xinjiang county were 52.52, 18.77, 13.17, 9.72, 0.95, 4.60 and 0.28 percent respectively.
