Following sharp decline in US textile production in September with closure of additional mill capacity, the average US man-made fiber on daily basis reached 2,282,000 pounds, a steep 15.2 percent year-on-year drop.

In September again, 57,041,000 pounds of manmade fibre was consumed by US textile industries.

The consumption breakup is:

* Polyester - 49,660,000 pounds
* Acrylic/Modacrylic - 2,452,000 pounds
* Rayon/Acetate - 1,646,000 pounds
* Nylon - 483,000 pounds
* Other manmade fibers - 2,800,000 pounds
