Vietnam's footwear export to Australia during January-February 2006 period surged 46.23 percent earning $6.15 million, compared to 9.62 percent growth registered during same period last year, Ministry of Trade(MOT)announced.

Australia mainly imports sports shoes, leather capped shoes and knitting capped shoes from Vietnam.

Sports shoes make up for the largest share of entire exports turnover to Australia fetching revenue worth $2.6 million, which is 32.83 percent rise compared to corresponding period of last year.

Most of the enterprises which export sports shoes are foreign investor companies, having big capital and advance technology, added MOT.

Meanwhile, Australian imports of leather capped-shoes for first two months were worth $1.45 million, recording a year-on-year increase of over 50 percent.

However, fastest growth was achieved by knitting capped-shoes, that recorded 117.25 percent hike during the first two months of 2005, but realised just $94,888,000 in revenues.
