In the first half of 2006, Vietnam's footwear exports to Japan witnessed stable growth at 26 percent compared to the same period 2005, pulling in $55 million.
For past two years, demand for footwear products from Japanese markets has been increasing steadily, with a growth of 12 percent in 2005 against 2004 (totalled ¥364.269 billion or $3.26 billion)and 16.97 percent in the first five months 2006, worth ¥176.47 billion ($1.58 billion).
Industrial experts opined that the demand was likely to remain strong in the coming months.
Statistics of Japanese Customs department show that most footwear goods exporting to Japanese market saw sharp growth in recent years except for water–proof shoes that have not penetrated into.
Market share of Made–in–Vietnam goods in Japan raised from 3.27 percent in the first five months 2005 to 3.94 percent in the same period 2006.
