In July 2006, exports turnover of Vietnam for tennis and basketball shoes reached $95 million, registering a 45 percent rise from correspondent month in 2005, sources from Vietnamese General Customs department reported.
For the first half of this year, exports turnover of these goods touched $396.49 million for 34.88 million pairs, with year–on–year growth of 45.62 percent and 55.62 percent, respectively.
Significant surge in demand for these products was recorded at most markets, especially Latin American countries including the US at 117.56 percent, Panama with 93.1 percent, 47.18 percent at Chile and Brazil up to 114.54 percent.
Other markets of the EU like Germany, France, Denmark and Sweden also registered high growth in both volume and value.
Exporting price of those goods in July represented an average rise of 6.64 percent higher than same month 2005, quoting $11.37 per pair.
Highest price was gained at Korean markets at $16.23 per pair, Austria and Netherlands quoted at $15.78 per pair and $15.65 per pair, respectively, since these markets demanded high–quality goods.
