Footwear exports to SA soar 13.34%

During the first six months of 2006, footwear exports turnover to South African market earned US $9.54 million, posting a year-on–year increase of 13.34 percent, revealed industrial sources from Vietnamese MOT.

Among footwear goods categories in the market, sports shoes recorded highest earnings with maximum growth rate in the period.

Sources from MOT, further revealed that in the first half this year, Vietnam generated significant revenue from exporting knitting–capped shoes that registered 37.8 percent and 52.8 percent growth in terms of volume and value compared with same period 2005.

The knitting–capped shoes of $5-7 per pair price witnessed highest growth among all.

Meanwhile, the imports of several men's and women's shoes categories represented a rise of 7.54 and 10.97 percent, respectively.
