Leading specialty retailer to young women, Wet Seal Inc reported net sales for the five-week period ended December 31, 2005 of $69.9 million, compared with net sales of $63.2 million for the same period last year, an increase of 10.6 percent.
Comparable store sales increased 38.5 percent for the five-week period ended December 31, 2005, compared with a decline of 11.8 percent for the same period a year ago.
Net sales for the 48-week period ended December 31, 2005 were $470.6 million, compared with net sales of $413.3 million for the same period last year, a 13.9 percent increase.
Comparable store sales increased 44.3 percent for the 48-week period ended December 31, 2005, compared with a decline of 13.8 percent for the same period a year ago.

During the five-week period ended December 31, 2005, the Company opened one Wet Seal store and closed one Wet Seal store.
At December 31, 2005, the Company operated 309 Wet Seal stores and 93 Arden B. stores.
