Jindal World launches 10mn metre pm capacity denim unit

Gujarat-based Jindal Worldwide Ltd launched a denim fabric and garment unit having manufacturing capacity of 10 million metre per month and will double it by June.
It plans to invest around Rs95 crore of which, Rs25 crore will be spent on denim manufacturing, Rs30 crore on spinning and Rs40 crore on wider width bedsheets, informed Yamunadutt Agrawal, Chairman Jindal Worldwide Ltd.
Refusing to disclose the new brand's name, he said that from trousers to jacket and shirts, everything would be made in-house.
The New brand will target middle segment and prices would start from Rs 300 upwards, he said.
Showroom will initially be constructed in Ahmedabad for sellling the company products.
Denim has become an all purpose garment as it is used as formal as well as a casual wear, said Agrawal, and it will command stable prices with better quality as competition heats up.
Denim will soon be used by people for curtains, pillow covers, bedsheets and other home textile materials, added Agrawal.
Exports to Europe and the US is envisaged in future but presently, the focus will be on domestic market, he informed.
