Premier, global headwear designer, developer and manufacturer, New Era Cap Co Inc, announced that its Vice President of Global Human Resources, Timothy J Freer, has been appointed to the Fair Labor Association's Board of Directors.
Freer will hold one of six Industry Representative positions on the board; the position has a three year term and is renewable.
New Era affiliated with the Fair Labor Association (FLA) in October 2002 and became a Participating Company in 2004.
As part of its affiliation, New Era has committed to the FLA's international labor standards, has subjected all of its production facilities to unannounced annual inspections and audits, as well as creating internal programs aimed at improving workplace conditions.
"It is an honor to be elected by the Fair Labor Association to its Board of Directors," said New Era Cap's Vice President of Global Human Resources Timothy J Freer.
"His election to the Board is a direct reflection of the level of commitment New Era has undertaken to maintaining the highest standard of working conditions at their facilities domestically and those they use around the world."
Adele Simmons, chair of the FLA Board of Directors said that they welcome New Era, with its strong university licensee perspective, to the FLA Board of Directors.
"As a Board member, Tim will play an important role in advancing FLA's mission for sustainable improvements in the workplace."
