Anvil Swannanoa textile unit to be shifted to Honduras

North Carolina based Anvil Knitwear Inc announced that its Swannanoa unit would be closed and operations would be shifted to Honduras.
Considering the overall American business scenario, this was a much-anticipated and strategic move by the company.
This unit employs around 400 workers to produce fabric for t-shirts and other casualwear cited competitive pressures working against its survival.
High production costs and ever increasing competition, has forced many major firms to move their factories to countries offering cheap labour.
Honduras, one of the poorest countries of the world that covers a small region between Guatemala and Nicaragua.
