Dollar General opens 8,000th store in Texas

Discount retailer Dollar General Corporation is opening its 8,000th store located in Mission, Texas, on March 3rd 2006. This milestone further distinguishes Dollar General as the retailer with the largest number of company-owned and company-operated stores in the United States.

David Perdue, Dollar General's Chairman and CEO, said, "This is an exciting time for the Dollar General family, as we celebrate the opening of our 8,000th store."

Dollar General is a Fortune 500(R) discount retailer with 7,929 neighborhood stores as of February 3, 2006.
