Apparel retailer J. Crew has informed the arrival of crewcuts, the long awaited children's collection, debuting Friday on March 31st, 2006.
The launch comes in response to the most frequent request from J.Crew's loyal clients -- to dress their kids, too.
After a brief introduction in 2001, J.Crew officially brought crewcuts back last holiday season with a limited collection of cashmere sweaters. From the enormous response, J.Crew decided to move forward with a full collection and introduced crewcuts for boys and girls, ages 2 through 8.
Crewcuts represents a playful take on the adult J.Crew collection, without sacrificing the same great quality or signature J.Crew 'Classics with a Twist' style.
Millard Drexler, Chairman and CEO of J.Crew said, "We are going after a J.Crew style that our customers really love for themselves and want for their kids. Until now, we feel that the kids market has been missing a certain sophistication, price and quality that we hope to provide."
Created for parents looking for well-made children's clothing at friendlier prices (and knowing how hard it is to find), crewcuts will feature the best J.Crew items ... only smaller. The collection will offer high quality and styling, including everything from a colorful collection of cashmere sweaters to the perfect sun washed tees and even beautiful dressed up items for flower girls and ring bearers.
Crewcuts highlights the younger elements of the J.Crew personality and incorporates all of the iconic items the company is famous for including washed patchwork madras, argyle as well as broken-in and lightweight chino -- some with brighter colors, critter embroideries and graphics that children (and parents) will love.
As of March 31st, crewcuts will be available in ten 'shop-in-shop' J.Crew locations around the country. The crewcuts full service website, http://www.crewcutkids.com/, will launch Saturday, April 1st for online shoppers.
