"The sale of counterfeit consumer goods has evolved beyond the illicit street market we've come to know into a new world of illegal activity that can ruin a brand's identity and undermine the stability of manufacturers and retailers," states Dave Simpson, Director of Security/Brand Protection, Nike Inc.
Mr. Simpson will join other industry leaders in an interactive discussion on dealing with Retail's own set of counterfeit challenges -- among them, lost sales to unwary customers lured by lower priced knock-offs and the loss of consumer confidence for buying products that have a high propensity to be counterfeited.
This year's AAFA conference is expected to bring together key players from the apparel, footwear and other sewn products industries, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Executive Office of the President of the United States, and the Office of Intellectual Property Rights -Department of Commerce to examine anti-counterfeiting developments, challenges, as well as solutions and services.
The one-day event will feature top industry executives sharing their real-world experiences and offering the latest perspectives on strategies for the vital growth of the retail market.
