Christopher & Banks' weekly same-store sales up

Christopher & Banks Corporation reported total sales of $60.0 million for the four-week period ended December 23, 2006, down modestly from $60.2 million last year. December same-store sales declined 7%.

For the ten months ended December 23, 2006, total sales increased 12% to $473.3 million from $424.1 million last year, while same-store sales increased 3%. As of December 23, 2006, the Company operated 779 stores compared with 707 stores as of December 24, 2005.

Joe Pennington, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “December same-stores were in line with the guidance we provided in our December 19, 2006 earnings release. Weekly same-store sales comparisons showed improvement as we progressed through the month.

We remain committed to addressing any slow moving inventory issues within the fourth quarter and plan to end the quarter with a clean, fresh in-store merchandise presentation.”
