San Francisco based specialty retailers Gap Inc's announced two additional locations where the Banana Republic brand will open later this fall in Tokyo. With these two additional store locations, Banana Republic will have a total of four stores opening in Japan.

The Banana Republic offerings, set to open this September, are located in two of the most prominent shopping areas in Tokyo and Yokohama: Nihonbashi Coredo, which is scheduled to open September 7, and Yokohama Landmark, which is scheduled to open September 15. These stores are in addition to the Printemps Ginza and Roppongi Hills store openings, which the company announced in June.

Andrew Rolfe, President of Gap Inc.'s International Division, is overseeing Banana Republic's expansion in Japan.

“They are pleased to add Nihonbashi Coredo and Yokohama Landmark to their store locations, as they bring Banana Republic to consumers in Japan,” said Mr. Rolfe. “Nihonbashi Coredo is the newest shopping complex in one of the most historical areas in Tokyo and Yokohama is historically known as the first stop for exciting, new imported fashions. With these locations we will have four stores in the most prestigious and newer shopping areas.”

Banana Republic, which currently has more than 460 stores and annual sales of more than $2 billion in North America, is known for offering modern interpretations of classic fashion for women and men through elevated design and luxurious fabrications at affordable prices.

Gap Inc is one of the world's largest specialty retailers, with about 3,000 stores and fiscal 2004 revenues of $16.3 billion. Company operates three of the most recognized apparel brands in the world — Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy.
