Talbots to donate children's clothing for supporting Katrina relief efforts

Nation's leading clothing e-tailer Talbots Inc is donating $50,000 to The Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, matching employee contributions up to a total of $50,000, and donating 54,000 units of children's clothing to support relief efforts in the Gulf Coast, announced Arnold B. Zetcher, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
The Company is working with Gifts In Kind International to distribute the children's clothing to shelters housing victims of Hurricane Katrina. Gifts In Kind International is a nonprofit organization that provides products and services donated by many Fortune 500 companies to assist those in need.
"Thoughts and prayers are with all those in the Gulf Coast who have been so devastated by the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Katrina. In addition to general relief efforts, company's utmost priority is the welfare of our associates who live in the region," said Zetcher.
Talbots has 80 stores in the Gulf Coast states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi, with three stores in the New Orleans area.
Talbots is a leading national specialty retailer and cataloger of women's, children's and men's classic apparel, shoes and accessories. The Company has had a long-term association with Gifts In Kind International and annually donates $10-12 million in merchandise.
