Mothers Work same store sales grow 1.9%

Preliminary net sales increased 11.6 percent to $135.0 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 ended September 30, 2005, from $121.0 million for the same period of the preceding year. Comparable store sales decreased 1.0 percent during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 (based on 997 locations, which excludes 6 locations closed during the entire month of September 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina) versus a comparable store sales decrease of 8.3 percent during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2004 (based on 859 locations). For the quarter ended September 30, 2005, the Company opened 2 stores and closed 7 stores.

Preliminary net sales increased 8.4 percent to $561.4 million for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2005, from $518.1 million for the same period of the preceding year. Comparable store sales decreased 2.5 percent during fiscal 2005 (based on 832 locations, which excludes 6 locations closed during the entire month of September 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina) versus a comparable store sales decrease of 4.9 percent during fiscal 2004 (based on 765 locations).
