Chico's FAS Inc sale shows 34.5% rise over last year

Women's clothier Chico's FAS Inc reported September sales results for the five-week period ended October 1, 2005, increased 34.5 percent to $143.1 million from $106.4 million reported for the prior year's five-week period ended October 2, 2004. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 15.8 percent for the five-week period ended October 1, 2005, compared to the same five-week period last year.
For the thirty-five weeks ended October 1, 2005, total sales increased 31.7 percent to $915 million from $695 million for the same period a year ago. Comparable store sales for the Company-owned stores increased 13.7 percent for the thirty-five week period compared to the same thirty-five week period last year.
Chico's FAS Inc is a specialty retailer of private label, sophisticated, casual-to-dressy clothing, intimates, complementary accessories, and other non-clothing gift items.
The Company operates 726 women's specialty stores, including stores in 47 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico operating under the Chico's, White House Black Market and Soma by Chico's names. The Company owns 481 Chico's front-line stores, 28 Chico's outlet stores, 185 White House Black Market front-line stores, 6 White House Black Market outlet stores and 13 Soma by Chico's stores; franchisees own and operate 13 Chico's stores.
