The N C Rural Economic Development Center recently announced that it will invest US $350,000 in a garment company in Randolph County.

Brisco Apparel Co, based in Ramseur, has for long been engaged in supplying decorated T-shirts and other active wear to drugstores and discount retailers. Presently, the company has 85 employees in North Carolina and 11 in New York and the owners are hoping to add an additional 33 jobs in North Carolina as a result of the new investment.

Investments by the Rural Economic Development Center would allow the company to expand its operations and develop its existing infrastructure which in turn would guarantee profits and growth.

Since the start of the Rural Venture Fund in the fall of 2007, this would be the sixth investment made by the center. Counting the investment in Brisco Apparel, the fund has appropriated $2.1 million in funds to six companies that are anticipated to create some 400 jobs in total by 2012.
