Brandix Lanka Ltd, one of the biggest exporters' of apparels is chalking out plans to raise capacity at its garment manufacturing unit in the former war zone area of Batticaloa, which also has ex-female Tiger combatants, working in the plant.
To get some more details Fibre2fashion spoke to Mr Anuk DeSilva from the corporate communications department of Brandix who confirmed the news. Brandix has already invested Rs 250 million in the plant.
The current production of the plant is 20,000 pieces and the company intends to take it to 50,000 pieces by September end. Since the plant was set up under a CSR initiative, now the challenge before the management is to make it commercially viable.
Brandix Lanka is one of the largest apparel exporters in Sri Lanka, and makes garments to high-end brands such as Victoria Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, Marks & Spencer etc, and also taken initiatives in eco-friendly means of production.
