In the course of the renovations, Coach's design team paid particular attention to the details of the windows and facade, always respectful of the original Walker & Gillette design. Shoppers will enter on 57th Street, an entrance that was derived from the detailing of the Fuller Building. The entryway will showcase a period frieze that follows the famous black-and-bronze aesthetic of the Fuller Building, yet was custom-made for this renovation.
The store's dramatic focal point is the massive curved stone and Venetian plaster staircase that connects the two selling floors. The perimeter of the space is executed with crisp, clean whitewashed sycamore and bleached walnut, and Coach's new floor fixtures are a mixture of walnut and sycamore wood accented with nickel tubing. Display fixtures include freestanding glass cases, large nickel cases, and custom museum vitrines. One-and-a-half inch thick cast glass inserts in the displays will add further character to the floor.
