India will be taking part in the world's biggest watch and jewellery exhibition, Basel World, along with 45 other countries that is scheduled to begin here from March 30.
Gems and jewellery sector is India's one of the largest export earners and world's ninety percent diamonds are polished in India which makes this event an important one for India.
Indian business participants will be around around 60, same number lie last year.
Visitors to the exhibition are expected to go up to 90,000, up from 70,000 last year.
Over 2,100 delegates from watch and jewellery industry are expected to attend of which 26 percent would be Asian.
Swiss Government would be offering free visas to visitors for the first time in order to entice visitors from markets like India, China, Russia, Thailand and Latin America in order to push sales.
Visitors are more interesting for us than delegates, said Communications Manager of the expo, Bernard Keller.
Some of the Indian participants are Sunjewels India Pvt Ltd, Ornamentations (India) Pvt Ltd, Jewelex (India) Pvt Ltd, Inter Gold (India) Pvt Ltd etc.
The past year has seen demand for luxury goods rising by five percent worldwide which is expected to go up further this year at Basel world.
