Jewellery exports recorded 52.8 percent increase in January 2006, against the export figures of same period in 2005.

In spite of continuous rise and fall in world gold price, the country fetched around $11.5 million during the period.

More than 19 countries are the export destination of Vietnamese jewellery and the US, Germany, Switzerland, Thailand and Spain have been added to the list in 2006.

The new countries have dominated the export turnover in January.

In 2005, total jewelry export achieved revenue worth $130 million, a 40 percent rise over 2004.

The major contribution to the exports turnover is from three traditional markets: Belgium, France and Sri Lanka.
