Police arrests fake jewellery makers

An illegal factory occupied in the manufacturing and circulating of fake jewelry from copper using specialist machinery was raided by police.

They seized machinery and a large quantity of copper from the site.

Ornaments were made after a special chemical treatment, which removed impurities and the items were prepared for gold plating.

Fake jewelry resembled like gold and was sold at cheap prices deceiving customers.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Jeddah Municipality searched an unlicensed factory for readymade dresses recently.

A group of South Asian workers had converted a laundry into a sewing factory.

Police arrested eight persons relating to drug trafficking and bootlegging offenses.

Earlier, the police had arrested 1,033 people for violating residency regulations in various parts of the city.
