An Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) project is to be held from January 16 to 23, 2006 to protect the crafts of the state.

The IPR project will be under taken by the Nagaland Government in collaboration with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).
Advancement in technology has created a need for patenting the products as these days, fakes can also be passed off as genuine, said Jamir Alemtemshi, Secretary of Industries.

The objective of the week long program is to create awareness about Naga crafts and document all. It would take place at the North East Zonal Cultural Centre at Dimapur.

Stake holders like textiles and handloom artisans, semi-precious jewellery craftsmen and lifestyle product makers besides financial investors have been invited to participate.

Non Governmental Organization (NGO)s like Naga Mothers Association, Naga Students Federation, Naga Hoho and other tribal bodies would also take part and offer their suggestions.
