Indonesia explores new markets for Balinese handicrafts

In view of the declining sales of Balinese handicraft products in the US and Europe, the Indonesian Association of Exporters and Producers is promoting the items in several Latin American countries.

Widening of handicraft item exports to South American countries like Brazil and Mexico would help offset a likely decline in exports to the US and European markets, the Association said.

Countries that have a climate and culture similar to Bali can be good destinations for boosting Balinese handicraft exports, the Association added.

However, the Association expects the US and Europe to remain as the major markets for Balinese handicraft items.
