Handicrafts overlooked in Rajasthan

Rajasthan inherits rich culture and tradition of handicrafts, but people from tourism and handicrafts industries are not interested to cash on this priceless art and craft by its development.

This was said by Maharaja Jai Singh, Chairman, FICCI, Rajasthan State Council at a workshop on State-Level Reforms-Increasing Investments in Rajasthan.

Inaugurating the workshop, Pratibha Patil, Governor of Rajasthan, said that state should make the most of handicrafts to attract foreign investors.

When feedback was invited during the workshop, 32 percent of participating companies of textile, cement, paper products and processed food saw opportunities for investment in Rajasthan, 28 percent were not happy and remaining 40 percent companies of tourism and handicrafts were neutral.

56 percent of participating companies including textiles, cement said they were doing well in the state, while 44 percent including includes fertiliser, handicrafts, and pharmaceuticals are facing difficulties.
