Handicrafts and Gifts Sourcing Show begins today

Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Sourcing Show begins at Pragati Maidan today.

The show is aimed to increase and strengthen handicrafts exports besides enabling artisans, craft persons and producers to improve their marketing.

The five-day show is organised by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) in association with the office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts).

The show is inaugurated by Member of Parliament, Ahmed Patel in the presence of Shankersinh Vaghela, Union Textiles Minister.

The show focuses on states like Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal and some North Eastern states.

The wide range of product categories at the fair are based on the raw materials.

The categories include metal, wood, cane and bamboo, stone, bone and horn, vegetable fibres like palm & sisal, textiles including handcrafted textiles, painting, glass, ceramics, costume jewellery, terracotta, and wool based textiles and other products.

The participants have come from various groups including 250 Self Help Groups and federations, 150 National/ State Awardees/ National Merit Certificate holders/ Shilp gurus/ 150 manufacturers/ artisans, 200 participants from designers or craft councils, entrepreneurs, NIFT, State Handicrafts Corporations, institutes involved in technology upgradation and potential exporters.
