Indian handicrafts revived by ingenious efforts

When Manitoba Museum's curator Katherine Pettipas met Jenny Meyer and her husband, she realized that they possessed Indian Handicrafts in Brandon since 1970's.

Pettipas requested the couple to make clothing and the project involved creating buckskin jackets, dresses and pants for four mannequins.

Jenny and her daughter's beadwork has been splendid and after the demise of husband Red, Jenny handed over her large collection to the museum as she was not able to take them along with her.

Jenny's beaded buckskin jackets have been used by none other than former Prime Minister Paul Martin and right now, she is crafting one for Pettipas.

She has been volunteering for the last fifteen years, she informed.
