To improve production capacity of handicraft villages and generate about 1.5 million jobs in rural sector, Ministry of Industry to invest VND92.4 billion from 2006 to 2015.
Villages situated in northern part of the country are encouraged to increase labour intensive occupations, Red River Delta stated.
At present, there are 100 traditional handicrafts in 2,000 villages, which accounted for 30 percent of rural labourers.
These labourers involved in handicraft occupation earn three to four times higher than farmers.
Ministry has also proposed to develop southern region to create globally competitive handicraft products.
