Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa, during a meeting with Union Textile Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela, urged the latter for speedy completion of work on proposed Indian Institute of Handloom Technology at Bargarh and Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) in Bhubaneswar.

Patnaik informed Vaghela that the land had already been reserved for the Handloom technology Institute and the building has been identified as well.

Chief Minister emphasized the fact that Bargarh-Sambalpur area boasts the highest number of weavers in India and has huge potential to become an export hub for handloom textiles.

Patnaik urged Vaghela to release the first installment of the Central share in the revival plan of the Orissa State Weavers Cooperative Society Limited (Boyanika) as per the plan approved by Minister himself.
