In today's world many artists are inspired by ancient textile tradition. They make their paintings based on traditional needlework and handicraft.
Hildur Bjarnadóttir is artist from Iceland who always got inspired from ancient textile works. She utilises canvases which are weaved by herself and it expresses historical meaning for her artwork.
Her latest work was about theories on the male viewpoint of art history. Although her art work appears to be monochrome or canvases painted in bright colours, on closer look it appears that each painting is based on an ancient textile tradition.
Her latest exhibition was launched couple of days before in SAFN gallery in downtown Reykjavík.
